- Turn lights & heaters off when you aren't using the space...
- Please shut and lock external doors behind you, especially if you found them that way. If there is a deadbolt, thank you for using it...
- When leaving or at night, please make sure windows are closed and secured...
- Before bed, it's always a good idea for those who use it to double check the mud room door and make sure it is locked.
- When opening or closing windows, doors or faucets, please appreciate that they prefer to be handled gently and with care.
- Sweep hard floors regularly in indoor spaces you use.
- Walk softly. Talk softly. Especially at night. Others' schedules may be different than yours.
- Have a vigilant eye and ear toward the sound of water. If the sink drips or toilet runs, thank you for letting us know.
- Extend your vigilant eye toward other unusual behavior. If a sink, tub or shower begins to drain slowly, or if you turn on a light and it flickers, sputters or pops, please let us know. Moisture on the inside of a window or in between the window panes is a big deal. Please watch for this and report it to us immediately if you see it!
- Think of how you want to find spaces and be treated. Thank you for leaving spaces that way and treating others according to this Golden Rule.
- Candles and incense are common igniters of house fires. This fact would suggest that fire really belongs only in the woodstove.
- Recycling - reduce consumption of single-use items:
- Rethink - is there an alternative?
- Reduce - do you really need it?
- Re-use - bring your own bags and containers; be prepared...
- Composting - The chickens love your "waste". To them, most everything you don't want is good food!
- Recycling straightforward items such as clean glass, plastic jugs and returnable bottles. The bin goes out every other Friday morning and is a shared responsibility.
- Garbage goes out to the SW corner of Hendrick's Ridge on the first Friday of the month by 7AM (or put out Thursday night). This also is a shared responsibility.
