Interacting

Living with people elegantly is an art and science.  A good housemate has finesse when it comes to interaction. Depending upon the person, the day, mixture of moods, weather and recent social interactions, respect toward and appreciation for mental, emotional and physical personal space "bubbles" are warranted for success in sharing space.

When people interact, there is an ever-fluid "sweet spot" for the perfect level of communication.  Awareness of your housemates' body language and other clues are an appreciated sensitivity to cultivate.

Even with physical interaction, an element of respect is warranted.  Shoes should be kept out of the walkway.  If there is a package at the door, it's really great if the first person to see it brings it in.  If you arrive and someone is in the middle of a conversation or deep in concentration, it is considerate not to interrupt their flow.  All of this common sense creates an enjoyable shared housing environment.
